The department is equipped with modern diagnostic equipment for endoscopic examination of the nasal cavity, larynx, and ear. A dedicated Surdology (Audiology) Office functions within the department, featuring the necessary modern equipment for a complete and high-quality hearing examination.

Areas of Activity:

  • Modern high-tech diagnosis and treatment of ENT pathology.
  • The department offers both general clinical (traditional) examination of the ear, throat, and nose, as well as:
  • Video endoscopic examination of the nasal cavity, nasopharynx, and larynx.
  • Video stroboscopy of the larynx, including examination using NBI (Narrow Band Imaging) technology.
  • In-depth hearing examination (audiometry in normal and extended frequency ranges, impedancemetry, otoacoustic emission).
  • Inflammatory diseases of the ear, throat, and nose: sinusitis (maxillary, ethmoiditis), otitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, etc.
  • Hearing loss (Hypoacusis): otitis, otosclerosis, sensorineural hearing loss, secretory otitis.
  • Deafness (congenital, acquired): Hearing-improving surgeries and cochlear implantation are performed at the surgical hospital base.
  • Nasal breathing disorders and discharge: rhinosinusitis, chronic rhinitis, deviated nasal septum, adenoid hypertrophy.
  • Tonsil diseases: chronic tonsillitis, tonsil hypertrophy.
  • Dysphonia (voice disorders): hoarseness, weakness, quick fatigue.
  • Rhonchopathy (snoring), apnea (cessation of breathing during sleep).
  • General clinical examination of the ear, throat, and nose.
  • Video endoscopic examination of the nasal cavity and nasopharynx.
  • * Rhinomanometry (nasal breathing study).
  • Video endoscopic examination of the larynx, video stroboscopy (laryngeal examination during functional load), screening for laryngeal neoplasms with NBI technique.
  • Microscopic examination of the ear.
  • Hearing tests: Tonal Audiometry, Suprathreshold Speech Audiometry, Impedancemetry (tympanometry; acoustic reflex).
  • Radiofrequency Vasotomy of the inferior turbinates (treatment for dependence on vasoconstrictor nasal drops).
  • Cryotherapy for the nose and pharynx.
  • Flushing of the tonsil lacunae.
  • Application of medications to the pharyngeal and nasal cavity mucous membranes.
  • Postoperative patient management.
  • Flushing of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses using the displacement method (Proetz wash) – sinusitis treatment without “punctures.”
  • Maxillary sinus puncture (drain insertion and sinus washing through the drain).
  • Removal of foreign bodies and earwax plugs from the ear.
  • Attic wash.
  • Instillation of medications into the larynx.
  • Catheterization and administration of medications into the Eustachian tubes.
  • Removal of foreign bodies from the nasal cavity and larynx.
  • Incision of ear and nose furuncles, and others.

Our Advantages

  • The department currently employs 8 Otorhinolaryngologists, an Audiologist, a Speech-Language Pathologist/Phonopedist, and 5 nurses.
  • The vast majority hold the Highest Qualification Category in Otorhinolaryngology. Additionally, three doctors have specialized in Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology.
  • The department is equipped with modern diagnostic equipment for endoscopic and functional examination. For high-level care of patients with voice disorders, the department performs video laryngostroboscopy, has specialists trained in Phoniatrics, and employs an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist/Phonopedist.
  • The ENT department includes a Surdology Office equipped with a clinical and impedance audiometer, ensuring effective and comprehensive hearing examination and hearing aid fitting. An experienced Audiologist and an Audiometry Nurse work here.
  • ENT specialists closely cooperate with the Scientific Department of Minimally Invasive Surgery and the Surgical Hospital, which is equipped with modern tools (operating microscope, endoscopic video system, shaver, microdebrider, radiosurgical, and cold-plasma units) for performing minimally invasive and traditional ENT surgical interventions.
  • The Otorhinolaryngology direction in the Scientific Department of Minimally Invasive Surgery is headed by Chief Research Fellow, D.M.S., Professor Shkorbotun Volodymyr Oleksiyovych, Head of the Otorhinolaryngology Department at P.L. Shupyk National University of Health of Ukraine (NUoZ).
  • The ENT Department of SIS “CIHT” SAD is the base of the Otorhinolaryngology Department of Shupyk NHUU in cooperation with which endoscopic rhinosurgery, otosurgery (including cochlear implantation), and modern minimally invasive surgery for adenoids and tonsils are actively developed.
  • SIS “CIHT” SAD executed municipal programs for cochlear implantation for the cities of Kharkiv and Kyiv.
  • In complex cases, the department’s doctors consult with leading Ukrainian specialists in Otorhinolaryngology, who are consultants of the State Affairs Department’s Health and Medical Support Administration.
